but frankly, this elephant hat creeps me out a bit.
Maybe because it was staring at me all last evening as I worked on the third granddaughter's hat.

I hope my grandson won't be frightened of it!

THat reminds me of when my son was about2 or 3. We re-did his bedroom, and Sears Catalogue had some Smurf wallpaper. He loved smurfs--Smurf PJ/s, t-shirts, etc. And this wallpaper was pricey. We couldn't get him to go to bed after the wallpaper was up. On the farm we had a yard light on all night. When he finally got it through to us, we saw that Gargamel's eyes caught the light, and it ooked like there were eyes looking at you all over the room and the dormer ceilings. So we took it off, and put rainbow wallpaper up instead.
Actually, the little guy won't have the elephant staring at him when it's on his head. Could you make some droopy eyelids: Ch.4, make 4 or 5 dc in first ch. fasten off. And stitch over part of the eye (I think elephants do have droopy eyelids. But it is cute!
Aww! It's adorable! He's going to love it!
i think its the eyes that make it creepy. smaller white ones might not be so bad. but its cute too
